THOM BROWNE SETS UP SHOP IN LONDON

US men’s and womenswear designer, Thom Browne, has opened one of his distinctive stores in London’s Mayfair.

The 1,500 sq ft shop is located in London’s Albermarle Street and the designer’s arrival confirms the address as an up and coming luxury apparel and accessories destination.

Designed by architect and friend, Flavio Albane, the store is slightly less rigid as an interpretation of the brand’s mid-century office inspired minimalism. Yes, the signature Venetian blinds are still here, as are the rows of fluorescent tube lighting, but there are also some very welcome curves in the space which is spread across two trading floors.

Using white Calacatta marble mixed with gray Bardiglio marble on the walls and ceilings of the space and setting dark wood mid-century furniture by the likes of  Jacques Adnet, and Maison Jansen against that backdrop makes for a cool man-cave vibe.

On the ground floor, the store showcases the men’s and women’s accessories and is intersected by a simple but elegant white floating spiral staircase.
