Single product shops continue to be the trend du jour and one store doing it well is a sea salt shop in the Norman port of Honfleur, France.

Selling nothing but gourmet salt, the store, L’atelier Du Sel, enjoys healthy customer queues as it benefits from being one of the most painted towns in France by the impressionists as well as being located near a main English Channel crossing, which brings in the tourists.

The store is located on one of streets behind the harbour and has a back wall that is a glass window, which forms a backdrop consisting of ocean and boats, providing the perfect product ambience. The salts are displayed on tables in aged wooden buckets. Customers are invited to take a testing spoon and try the many flavours such as saffron, coriander, Provençale herbs, pimiento and the local delicacy: Calvados.
