Contemporary artist Jeff Koons has installed a 45ft high inflatable ballerina at New York’s Rockefeller Centre.
The sculpture has been designed to raise awareness of national missing children’s month and is sponsored by real estate company Tishman Speyer, American cosmetics brand retailer Kiehls and the non-profit organization, Art Production Fund.
This beautiful ballerina is part of Koon’s Antiquities series, which is an of the moment interpretation of the mythological goddess Venus. The seated ballerina is calm and reflective as she ties her shoes.
Fashioned from nylon with a reflective coating, it complements its glass skyscraper surroundings.
The installation will remain in place until June 2 and provides inspiration to shopping centre companies and property developers to create art installations that capture attention globally while enhancing a locale.
