As part of London Design Week, designer Camilla Walala has created a giant inflatable castle near Liverpool Street station.

The coloured candy-stripe structure has been installed in the square outside Broadgate Shopping centre, in the city centre. Located in the shadows of the city’s towering skyscrapers, this is an attempt to brighten and lift the mood of commuters making their way to the office.

It has been designed to resemble a bouncy castle. However, as it’s for adults, there is no inflatable base to jump on. Instead, visitors can walk under the large arches, across the grass and be immersed in the plastic haven.

The pattern of monochrome stripes and shapes has also been extended to the stairs that surround the square, providing an amphitheatre that frames the artwork.

The annual event is a celebration of London’s leading designers, which takes over the city with unexpected artwork and events. London Design Week returns in September 2018.
