Streetwear label Stussy has reopened in the Canadian city of Toronto after a year’s absence.
The relocation of the flagship store was the result of Stussy’s former shop building being taken back to be redeveloped into a block of apartments. After a nine month search, the brand has found its new location in Spadina, close to its former store site in the downtown area close to Chinatown.
The new flagship store’s design concept is utilitarian in look and feel with the dominant materials being steel and timber.
Large open timber framework serves as fixturing for the clothing ranges and breaks up the navigation of the store space. The juxtaposition of the wood and the shiny steel counters and cash desk give the store an upmarket warehouse feel. Inside the store, there is a coffee and snack space, filled with greenery for local hipster café “Sam James Coffee Bar”.
