Danish contemporary luxury jewellery brand Shamballa has opened up a jewel box of a store in New York’s SoHo.

The boutique has been designed to reflect the personality and inspiration of the brand’s founders, brothers Mads and Mikkel Kornerup.

Designed by Danish design studio Barlby Carlsson, the shop has a distinctly Eastern contemplative feel. Its atmosphere is created by a stunning centerpiece – a suspended lingnam.

This gives the store the attitude of a temple and it is this vibe, together with the use of light and dark smoked oak and brass on the fixtures and jewellery vitrines, which creates a feeling of lightness reminiscent of a Tibetan Temple.

There are small private viewing rooms built into the space that enable clients to contemplate prospective purchases away from prying eyes.

Key to the success of the overall design is the ceiling which was designed in the Shamballa studio and made in pieces Denmark before being taken to New York to be installed in the store.
