German luxury luggage brand  Rimowa, owned by LVMH, has opened a second store in the Ginza area of Tokyo.

The retailer has added to its offering in the area by positioning a store close to the new Ginza 6 mall which debuted in April this year, with the aim of tapping into the estimated annual 20m footfall halo that the destination mall is likely to bring.

Situated in the Miyuki- Dori shopping street and trading over more than 1,800 sq ft and two floors, the new boutique is an addition to a store in the Ginza 1 district.

The look and feel of the interior mimics the key characteristics of the brand’s recently opened new concept shops in Paris and London. White walls are highlighted with decorative polished aluminium hologram panels that mimic the iconic aluminium and polycarbonate product.

There is a restricted tonal colour palette that allows the coloured luggage to be the hero in the space and product is arranged on circular platforms in the centre of the hardwood floor so that they can be viewed from a 360 perspective in demonstrations.

The shop also houses a service centre in the basement for basic repairs to be carried out on site.
