Luxury luggage brand Rimowa has debuted its biggest store globally on the Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré in Paris.
The German brand was bought last year by luxury behemoth, LVMH and is now on the expansion trail. The 6,540 sq ft store trades across five floors and in addition to showcasing the entire collection, it has a VIP personal shopping lounge and a repair workshop.
Designed by Swiss Architects Atelier Oï, which was responsible for the 120-year-old business’s new retail concept in London, the store presents a travel lifestyle for shoppers. The location of the shop is opposite the famous Bristol Hotel and the brand is perfectly positioned to attract guests into the store and partner on events with the hotel.
Rimowa operates 45 directly owned stores and has plans to open seven more in 2017. Germany is a key market with boutiques opening in Munich, Stuttgart, and Frankfurt.
Rimowa is known for its product innovation, it was the first suitcase company to introduce aluminum and poly-carbonate as luggage materials and more recently it debuted an electronic tag that links to the suitcase owner’s phone via Bluetooth. The brand has partnered with German airline Lufthansa and the tag allows passengers to check in seamlessly at any Lufthansa or Eva Airlines baggage drop.
LVMH is looking for more airline partners for the tags as it expands its store offer globally.
