PRADA OPENS IN BRUSSELS

Prada has opened a boutique in Brussels.

The Italian luxury brand’s new 4,300 sq ft flagship is located on the Boulevard De Waterloo, one of the city’s main luxury shopping streets and showcases ready-to-wear, accessories, leather goods and footwear for men and women.

It’s a fairly prosaic retail box in a modern building but the brand makes the most of its double fronted four-window aspect and capitalises on colour. This means is uses Prada’s signature chequerboard monochrome marble flooring as a foil to the pistachio green cloth walls and ceilings.  Marble is used elsewhere in display units and as a green highlight on doorframes.

Lime green velvet chairs, designed by Osvaldo Borsani, somehow sharpen up the enviroment, like the wings on a pair of Prada cat’s eye sunglasses.

The window merchandising expands the colour merchandising theme beyond the store design by adopting bands of chroma colours on the shoe stages that grace the displays in blue, coral, red and teal.
