Pierre Herme has collaborated with Japanese design outfit Wonderwall on their new Tokyo flagship. The store is a renovation and re-imagination of its previous space.

Wonderwall has created a shop with different sensory spaces for various needs. On the ground floor there are multiple cakes and macaroon counters, as well as bench seating. There is also a concept store space selling items such as Herme’s cookbooks.

Upstairs is referred to as heaven, where customers can watch the pastry chefs at work providing the experience element for the store. In an unexpected twist, the seating counters have a pair of headphones at each seat for easy listening.

The makeover is high-end, mixed with ‘modern’. Colourful marble flooring and walls are paired with neon signs featuring macaroons and their take on the Can-Can girls.

This is a sweet taste of good design.
