New in SoHO is the Em Pty Gallery a shop-cum-art space deriving from the Off White streetwear stable.

The location, a former furniture showroom in Mercer Street, is a double-height all white space influenced by the musings of Off White creative founder Virgil Abloh. It has a large circular light well in its ceiling which was inspired by the Pantheon in Rome, Abloh’s favourite building, according to reports.

Abloh worked in association with long term spatial collaborators Family Architects on the project. Family have worked on Off White stores in London, Manchester, Shanghai, Beijing, Hong Kong, Seoul, Tokyo, Singapore, and Toronto.

The Em Pty concept was trialled as a pop-up at March’s Paris Fashion week and has been developed to a permanent store idea for Manhattan.

The merchandise assortment will change every two months as featured artists change at the location and product will be curated and displayed to compliment the art, which will feature unknown or rising artists.
