Bird Brooklyn, the multi-label womenswear boutique retailer, has flown west to set up in Los Angeles.
The business that has made a name for itself selling chic contemporary labels to fashionistas across the key Brooklyn neighbourhoods of Cobble Hill, Park Slope, Williamsburg and Fort Greene, has now found a new nest in Culver City.
The store will be the retailer’s fifth. It is located on Washington Boulevard and is a significant commitment in trading space spanning 5,000 sq ft. The site has been selected to tap into potential customers from the many creative agencies and the tech community located between Culver City, Marina Del Rey and Santa Monica,
The store, a former bookbinders, is housed in a flat-roofed mid-century building and has been designed by Ole Sondresen, the architect who masterminded the look of Bird Brooklyn’s other stores and who has also worked for womenswear brand Eileen Fisher.
Light-filled yet warmed by its wooden panelled walls, the interior of the store is a mix of the contemporary and homely with pink plaid rugs and bespoke furniture.
It is also distinctively different from many others covering this market in the West Coast metropolis.
