LOUIS VUITTON COMES HOME IN PARIS

The first ever Louis Vuitton store was set up by the brand’s founder on the Place Vendome in Paris.

Now the brand has come home in style, opening a Louis Vuitton Maison in two grand townhouse buildings on Paris’s iconic luxury shopping street.

Designed by fashion house architect Peter Marino, the brand has impeccably renovated the exterior of the building adding one embellishment, a giant Vuitton metal sun sculpture whose rays spread out across the facade.

Inside, the space has been modernized and filled with light by the creation of glass windows and doors.  The staircases may be carved out of 18th century stone, but their balustrades are transparent glass, adding to the airy feel. Additional light pours into the building by covering what was an open courtyard with a glass roof to connect the two buildings.

Artworks by 22 artists, curated by Marino, are displayed throughout the space and these include Annie Morris’s colourful spheres that sit in a stairwell between two floors. There are  also stunning light sculptures by Phillipe Anthonioz and works from Stephen Sprouse, Laurent Grasso and Gregor Hildebrandt.
