Parisian perfumer Diptyque has opened its second store in Tokyo at the new luxury mall, Ginza 6.
The new shop has been designed as a place where East and West meet. The warm ambiance of 34 boulevard Saint-Germain, Diptyque’s flagship shop in Paris, has been fused with the formal purity of Japanese natural interiors featuring rice paper, bamboo, brass and vintage furnishings.
The customer is greeted on one side by the brand’s iconic black oval medallion and on the other by a wall of hourglass scent diffusers. The anthracite-grey metal colour highlights the façade inspired by Japanese folding screens. A rice-paper panel diffuses filtered light in the space where a cocoon made of interwoven bamboo houses signature perfumes. Light wood shelving, floors and slated roof complete the space.
The brand has made an exclusive candle for the store, dubbed Tokyo, which represents a walk through Japanese gardens.
Diptyque has displayed the art of merging the brand’s design with a strong sense of the local.
