Calvin Klein’s new chief creative officer Raf Simons wants to start afresh and to signal this he debuted an interim store design at the US brand’s iconic Madison Avenue flagship store.

By commissioning the artist Sterling Ruby to take the minimalist all white interior, originally designed by John Pawson, and paint and light it construction/egg yolk yellow and use scaffolding to create a new internal look, Simons keeps the forward momentum going at the business.

There is,apparently, a new store interior to come at 654 Madison Avenue but until then the 22,000 sq.ft. store has been recreated anew signalling to the world that Simon’s second womenswear collection, due this September, will push the new era for the brand.

The designer has collaborated with Ruby before and his slightly skewed view of the world works well on the flagship’s temporary makeover. The brand stated that “Ruby has reimagined architectural designer John Pawson’s original design of the Calvin Klein flagship,”

Emphasis on the product assortment in the space has changed too with homewares being given space to breathe and mixed in with vintage and bespoke pieces.
