Bulgari, the Rome-based luxury jewellery brand has transformed its New York flagship store in a multi-million pound refit.

The store, located on Fifth Avenue and 57th Street at the bottom of the Crown building, has been under the Bulgari banner since 1989 and over the last 18 months it has been being refurbished by luxury architect Peter Marino.

The massive scale of the project is indicated on the exterior where Marino has installed a bronze Rosetta-patterned façade, inspired by a clasp on a 1930’s Bulgari bracelet. This intricate metallic web will be lit by LED lights at night, making the building an after dark beacon on the iconic shopping street.

Trading across 4,000 sq ft, the store’s interior is grand and Italianate in style with marble colonnades, mosaic tiling and white marble and glass floors.

The store is furnished larely with the work of Italian designers, both new and antique. Two Gio Ponti chandeliers grace the space along with 1940’s chairs by Paolo Buffa and a VIP room hosts silk screen prints of Andy Warhol paintings.

Bulgari continues to do much when it comes to defining luxury environments.
