Sports brand Adidas has created a unique pop-up experience in Bikini Berlin mall where customers design their own knitwear.
Using a body scan, shoppers can measure their exact proportions and then use augmented reality technology to create their own design. Once selected, the design is sent to print which is made in the attached industrial knitwear workshop, visible from the shop floor. The complete design process takes just two hours and is part sponsored by the German Government to help reduce wastage and promote sustainability in the fashion industry.
The store design is an interesting mix of grungy, unfinished fixtures with exposed ceilings and concrete juxtaposed with high tech machinery including body scanners and computer design stations. There is also a laundry vibe with a collection of sweaters all hanging from different heights on a line.
This is another good example of using technology in store which delivers an engaging customer experience.
